Jamshedpur Youth’s self immolation bid in love affair

Jamshedpur, August 19: Rakesh Gupta, a resident of East Plant Basti, attempted self-immolation on Friday morning in room number 103 of Hotel Chandra, Sakchi. During this, Neera Das, who was present on the spot in the middle of the rescue, also got scorched by the fire. Both were admitted to TMH for treatment from where Rakesh was referred to RIMS in Ranchi.

During interrogation, Neera told the police that in the year 2017, she was married in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj. The husband got married for the second time after which she came to her residence in Chhayanagar of Sitaramdera two years ago and got friendship with Rakesh on Instagram a year ago. Both fell in love and both started meeting.

For the past few days, she was living separately from Rakesh. It was Rakesh’s birthday on August 15, regarding which Rakesh had called him to meet for the last time.

Neera told that Rakesh called her at 4 in the morning. Rakesh took him on a bike from near MGM Hospital and took him to the hotel. Both were celebrating their birthday in the hotel room when Rakesh sprinkled kerosene on himself and set himself on fire. A case has been registered by the police on Neera’s statement regarding the matter.
