Jamshedpur: A shocking revelation has emerged in the murder case of Deepak Vibhar, who was shot dead in the Sidhgora area on Diwali night.

Police investigations have confirmed that the killing stemmed from a love triangle gone wrong — triggered by a revenge plot hatched by the girlfriend of the prime accused, Ashok Yadav.

According to police sources, the conflict began when Deepak allegedly tried to flirt with his friend’s girlfriend over the phone.

After being rebuffed, he reportedly made offensive remarks to her. Upset by this, the woman confided in her friend — who happened to be Ashok Yadav’s girlfriend. Enraged by what he heard, Ashok vowed to “teach Deepak a lesson.”

On the night of October 20, Ashok, armed with a country-made pistol, confronted Deepak near a gambling spot in Bhuiyandih Kanhu Bhatta along with his associate Prem Yadav, who carried a revolver.

When Deepak refused to back down, Ashok fired a warning shot into the air.

But, as Deepak allegedly threatened him in return, Ashok shot him in the chest, fatally wounding him. Prem then fired multiple rounds in the air to spread panic before fleeing the scene. Deepak succumbed to his injuries later in the hospital.

Acting on a tip-off, a special police team led by DSP (City) arrested three accused — Prem Yadav, Roshan Yadav, and Angad Mukhi — from the Babu Dih Cemetery area on Wednesday evening. The main accused, Ashok Yadav, had already been arrested earlier.

During interrogation, Ashok admitted to firing the fatal shot. His statements led police to recover the murder weapons — a country-made pistol, a revolver, two magazines, and seven live cartridges — from different hideouts including the Bhuiyandih dumping yard and Subernarekha riverbank.

The phone connection
investigations revealed that Deepak had been using a SIM card originally belonging to his friend, who had sold his phone but retained the SIM. When the friend’s girlfriend called the number, Deepak answered and began trying to impress her, setting off the chain of events that led to his murder.

Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey directed a swift and coordinated probe that resulted in the arrests. DSP Headquarters-I Bhola Prasad Singh confirmed the breakthrough during a press conference, stating that further investigation is underway to uncover any additional conspirators or motives behind the killing.
