Burglary of Rs 10 lakh in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: A major burglary took place in Adarsh Nagar Phase-4 under Sonari police station area, where thieves looted around Rs 10 lakh worth of jewellery and cash from the residence of Jharkhand Pradesh Mahila Congress Vice-President, Punita Chaudhary.

According to reports, the incident occurred while Chaudhary has been hospitalised for the past week due to illness.

Taking advantage of the vacant house, burglars broke the main door lock and decamped with valuables kept inside a wardrobe.

The entire act was captured on CCTV, showing the burglars entering and exiting the house.

On receiving information, Sonari police reached the spot and have started investigating the case. They are trying to identify the culprits using the CCTV footage, though no arrests have been made yet.

This incident has once again raised serious concerns over security in the city.

Earlier, a similar burglary worth around Rs 15 lakh was reported in Vijaya Gardens under Birsanagar police station area, which remains unsolved.

Residents have expressed anger over increasing thefts, blaming inadequate night patrolling and police negligence.

Locals have demanded intensified surveillance and stronger night patrols to curb such crimes in the area.
