Jamshedpur: Young Indians (YI), a dynamic organization dedicated to nurturing youth leadership, has unveiled the Young Indian Parliament (YIP), a pioneering initiative aimed at empowering school students across India. The launch of YIP signifies a significant milestone in providing a platform for young leaders to engage in parliamentary processes, develop critical thinking skills, and enhance their public speaking abilities.
The Young Indian Parliament (YIP) is meticulously designed to introduce the complexities of parliamentary democracy to students in an innovative format. Targeting students from classes 9 to 12, YIP offers a unique opportunity for young leaders to voice their opinions, participate in debates, discussions, and decision-making processes, closely resembling real parliamentary proceedings.
YIP will consist of two rounds: a regional round followed by the national finals, scheduled to be held in New Delhi in November. The regional round, slated for August 2024, will occur simultaneously in Raipur and Kolkata, with 250 students selected from schools across nine cities in eastern India participating. The standout performers from the regional round will represent their city and school in the National Youth Parliament.
To partake in this esteemed event, schools must register via the Young Indian Parliament webpage at yischoolhub.org by 15th April 2024. Once school registration is confirmed, students from classes 9 to 12 can be enlisted to participate in the Young Indian Parliament. Schools have the liberty to register multiple candidates for the event, without any restrictions on the number of students per school.
Registered students will engage in the initial round, tasked with creating a Campaign Pitch. The most compelling pitches will advance to the regional round, offering students the chance to exhibit their leadership prowess and vie at a national level.
Participation in the Young Indian Parliament promises to augment students’ academic journey while furnishing them with invaluable skills and experiences essential for their future endeavors.
Neha Agrawal, Co-Chair of Thalir at Young Indians, Jamshedpur, articulated the organization’s commitment, stating, “At Young Indians, we are dedicated to nurturing tomorrow’s leaders by providing them with the ideal platform and growth opportunities. Through the introduction of the Young Indian Parliament, our goal is to instill vital skills such as critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork among our youth. By doing so, we aim to equip them to become conscientious citizens and the future torchbearers of our nation.”
