Patna (IANS): Chief Minister Nitish Kumar dissolved his Cabinet on Tuesday, April 14, signaling the end of a transformative era in Bihar politics. After nearly two decades at the helm, Kumar will now step away from state governance to focus on national responsibilities.
Earlier today, the Chief Minister chaired his final cabinet meeting at the Secretariat. Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha attended the session alongside department ministers and senior officials. During the meeting, Kumar formally informed his colleagues of his decision to resign.
An Emotional Farewell
The meeting witnessed emotional scenes as ministers reflected on their long political journey under Kumar’s leadership. In a rare personal gesture, the Chief Minister interacted with each minister individually.
“This is a deeply emotional moment,” Nitish Kumar remarked. “I am now heading to Delhi, but I will continue to keep a watchful eye on everything from there.”
He reassured the cabinet that despite his move to the Rajya Sabha, his focus remains firmly on Bihar’s development. Following the discussions, the Chief Minister joined his colleagues and senior officials for a final commemorative photo session at the Secretariat.
Transition to National Politics
Nitish Kumar will submit his official resignation to the Governor later today. This act formally concludes his tenure and triggers the process for a new administration to take charge.
Once he takes his oath as a Rajya Sabha member, Kumar will actively transition into national politics. However, political analysts expect him to maintain significant influence over Bihar’s governance and political direction during this transition.
