Jamshedpur: A complaint has been filed in the Bistupur police station by Saryu Roy, the Jamshedpur West MLA, against a “pseudo video journalist” for running a month-long campaign of baseless allegations against him. Roy stated that the individual has been levelling unfounded accusations and falsely linking his photographs to malicious topics.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, Roy noted that while the individual initially targeted him indirectly, the attacks have recently escalated into direct, false, and half-baked onslaughts.
“I turned a blind eye to this for a few days,” Roy said. “However, once he crossed all limits, I filed a formal complaint at the Bistupur Police Station.”
Demand for Legal Action under BNS
The legislator demanded that the police force the so-called journalist to produce evidence backing his claims. Failing this, Roy argued, the police must initiate criminal prosecution for deliberate character assassination and conspiring to spread falsehoods.
Past Precedents and Challenges
Roy emphasized that this is not the first time that vested interests and political rivals have launched malicious campaigns against him.
- The Pattern: Roy alleged that whenever he exposes serious corruption or irregularities in the public interest, the guilty parties field “front men” to issue reckless and baseless statements.
- The Backtrack: “When I demand proof, they fall silent. When I take them to court, they either get convicted or absurdly claim that their websites were hijacked,” Roy added.
Issuing a definitive challenge to his detractors, the MLA concluded, “By all means, level allegations—but back them up with proof. If you lack evidence, apologize for the misinformation, or prepare to face stringent legal action in court.”
