CSIR-NML Jamshedpur to host National Metallurgy Seminar BTTD from June 17

Jamshedpur, June 16: The national-level student seminar on Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, “Behind the Teacher’s Desk” (BTTD-2026), will begin at the CSIR–National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML) in Jamshedpur on June 17. Around 200 engineering students, academicians, researchers, and industry professionals from across the country are expected to participate in the three-day event.

The seminar is being organized by the Indian Institute of Metals, Jamshedpur Chapter, in association with CSIR–National Metallurgical Laboratory, Tata Steel, and National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur. The event will continue until June 19.

BTTD-2026 aims to provide a platform for students and young engineers to interact directly with industry experts and academic leaders. Discussions and presentations will focus on mineral processing, metal extraction, iron and steel making, alloy design, corrosion and surface engineering, materials behaviour, modelling and simulation, and sustainable metallurgy.

The seminar will feature expert lectures, interactive sessions, competitions, and networking opportunities, encouraging innovation and strengthening collaboration between academia and industry while inspiring the next generation of metallurgical and materials engineers.
