Jamshedpur welcomes sunshine and winter chill as cyclone Fengal impact fades

Jamshedpur: The city experienced a welcome change in weather today as the impact of Cyclone Fengal diminished, bringing bright sunshine to most districts across the state. Residents woke up to a clear sky, with dissipating cloud cover signaling the return of typical winter weather.

The improvement in weather conditions also led to a drop in minimum temperatures, which are expected to decline further in the coming days. Meteorologists at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Ranchi Centre predicted a gradual fall in minimum temperatures by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius over the next few days, enhancing the winter chill.

Adding to the winter ambiance, the IMD issued an alert for shallow to moderate fog in isolated areas across the state over the next 72 hours. Such foggy conditions are likely to impact early morning visibility, cautioning commuters to drive safely.

Meteorological statistics for today highlighted significant variations in temperatures across Jharkhand. Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of 12.6 degrees Celsius, while Jamshedpur, known for its relatively warmer climate, registered 15.2 degrees Celsius. In contrast, Bokaro experienced a colder morning with a minimum temperature of 11.5 degrees Celsius. Daltonganj, the headquarters of Palamu district, noted a minimum temperature of 12.3 degrees Celsius.

The highest maximum temperature recorded in the state during the past 24 hours was 29.4 degrees Celsius in Jamshedpur, reflecting the area’s warmer daytime conditions. Conversely, Garhwa experienced the coldest night with the lowest minimum temperature of 9.3 degrees Celsius, marking a significant dip compared to other districts.

The shift in weather marks a return to normalcy after the cyclonic disturbance brought cloudy skies and interrupted seasonal patterns. The clear skies and falling temperatures align with the winter season’s typical characteristics in Jharkhand, much to the delight of residents who eagerly await the crisp winter mornings.

The Met office’s predictions suggest that Jharkhand’s weather will remain stable, with sunshine dominating the days and cold nights creating a quintessential winter experience. Citizens are advised to brace for foggy conditions and chilly mornings while enjoying the sunshine that now bathes the state.

This positive shift in weather comes as a relief to many, especially those in agriculture and outdoor occupations, who can resume their activities without the disruptions caused by the cyclone. Meanwhile, health authorities continue to remind residents to stay warm and protect themselves from the cold, particularly during the early morning and late evening hours.
