Jamshedpur, Dec 11: Water arrangements will soon be made at MGM Hospital Dimna, paving the way for the relocation of the hospital. The decision regarding the water supply will be finalized during a meeting with the Principal Secretary of the Health Department, who is scheduled to visit on December 12.
The shift of patients from the old buildings of MGM Hospital Sakchi to the new MGM Hospital Dimna is crucial for the progress of construction at the Sakchi location. While some work has already been done, the remaining construction can only proceed after the hospital’s shift.
The district administration, under the direction of the Principal Secretary, has been tasked with exploring solutions for the water supply to the Dimna site. One possible option is sourcing water from Dimna Lake instead of Domukhani, as there have been concerns over the availability of water at Domukhani, especially during the summer months.
“The hospital’s relocation to Dimna is contingent upon ensuring a reliable water supply,” stated the Principal Secretary. “We need to explore the feasibility of using Dimna Dam as a water source, given the issues with Domuhani,” he added.
The new building for MGM Hospital was approved on the condition that water would be provided from two sources, ensuring a continuous supply. However, complications arose when it became clear that water from Domuhani might not be sufficient, especially during the summer season. This issue has delayed the shift of patients to the new facility.
Once the water arrangements are confirmed, the relocation process will begin, allowing the much-needed construction of new facilities at the Sakchi hospital to move forward. The hospital superintendent and principal are expected to have further discussions with the Principal Secretary to finalize the water supply plans and facilitate the hospital’s relocation.
