Jharkhand Governor announces govt intent of 33 % women reservation in jobs

Women, child development top priority of Hemant’s govt 

Ranchi, December 11: Jharkhand finance minister Radhakrishna Kishore on Wednesday tabled the second supplementary budget of Rs 11,697.45 crore for the 2024-25 fiscal.

The women, child development and social security department is proposed to get the maximum outlay of Rs 6,390.55 crore.

 Actually, the government has to issue a monthly installment of Rs 2,500 to the beneficiary women under the Mainya Samman Yojana. Apart from this, the beneficiaries of the Sarvajan Pension Yojana also have to pay Rs 1000 as a monthly installment. It is clear from this that to fulfill its promise, the state government has taken the initiative to arrange the amount through the supplementary budget.

 After the formation of the government, the decision to release the amount was taken in the first cabinet itself. On this basis, it was announced by JMM that Rs 2,500 will be transferred to the accounts of women on December 11.

 Supplementary budget was tabled on the third day of four-day assembly session just after Governor’s speech.

The debate on the supplementary budget is scheduled to be held on the last day of the session on Thursday, assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato told reporters.

The energy department is likely to get the second highest outlay of Rs 2,577.92 crore, followed by home, jail and disaster management department at Rs 445.96 crore and school education and literacy department to get Rs 574.69crore (Rs 301 crore 89 lakh for the School Education and Literacy Department (Secondary Education Division) and Rs 245 crore for the School Education and Literacy Department (Primary and Adult Education Division).

 The Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar in his address informed that the government will reserve 33 percent government jobs for women.

JMM had in its manifesto announced of 33 percent reservation for women in all government sector jobs. 

The Governor also informed that the government will adopt legal recourse to get back the outstanding amount of Rs 1.36 lakh-crore of Jharkhand lying with the central government and its companies, he said. 

In the previous assembly, the government had passed a Bill raising the quota of OBCs to 27 per cent, Scheduled Tribes to 28 per cent, and Scheduled Castes to 12 per cent, besides a resolution for a Sarna religious code, the governor said. 

“The Bill has been sent to the Centre for approval, which is currently lying with the home ministry. The government will make all its efforts to get them approved,” he said. 

Gangwar said he strongly believes that all would work with full dedication for the creation of a prosperous and progressive Jharkhand. 

The four-day assembly session started on Monday and will conclude on Thursday. 

 The first two days of the session witnessed the oath-taking of all 81 members and election of the new Speaker.
