Jamshedpur, Nov 22: Top seeded VM Ranjeet lifts the Men’s Singles title at the just concluded Beldih Club AITA Men’s 1 Lac National Ranking Tennis Tournament 2019, held at the clay courts of Beldih Club and United Club in Jamshedpur.
Ranjeet, having represented India in Davis Cup in 2013 had a close encounter with Abhinansu Borthakur of Bengal in the opening set till 4-3. Here, the 34 year old Ranjeet got the crucial break and thereafter followed it with a hold of serve and pocketed the set by 6-3.
In the second, Borthakur was erratic and dropped serve twice to allow India No. 23 to get richer by 20 national ranking points and a prize money of Rs 12,500. Borthakur had to be satisfied with 15 national ranking points and a prize money of Rs 8,400.�
Men’s Doubles final winners Abhinansu Borthakur and Puru Upadhyay who defeated top seeded pair of Neel Garud and Asish Sinha of Madhya Pradesh by 6-2,6-1 on Thursday, also received the winners trophy on Friday.
