Jamshedpur, Feb 24: A Vintage Car and Bike Rally will be flagged off from Gopal Maidan by Tata Steel Vice President Chanakya Chaudhary at 8:30 am on Sunday, February 25.

The rally route will be of 23 kilometers and will pass along the Regal Roundabout, Bharucha Mansion, Jubilee Park, Kadma-Sonari Link Road, Sir Dorabji Tata Park, Keenan Stadium and St. George’s Church and conclude at the United Club.

This will be followed by the prize distribution ceremony.
Another highlight of the rally would be that participants will put on costumes relevant to the era of their respective vehicles which will add a touch of nostalgia to 185th Founder’s Day celebrations.

A huge crowd was witnessed at the Gopal Maidan on Saturday, February 24, to view the cars and two-wheelers that had been lined up for exhibition before the commencement of the rally to be organized in collaboration with Tata Steel on Sunday.

The rally will be a part of the 185th Founder’s Day celebrations. More than 150 vehicles were showcased.

The event aimed to bridge the gap between the illustrious past and the dynamic present, attracting enthusiasts and spectators alike.

Manufacture period of vehicles on display are between1926 to 1985. This year participants are mainly from four states of Jharkhand (Jamshedpur, Ranchi and Chaibasa), West Bengal (Kolkata), Odisha (Keonjhar) and Punjab.

Among the notable exhibits were the 1926 Austin 7 car and the 1928 Mercedes Benz, capturing the essence of automotive history.

An armored vehicle manufactured with Tata Steel’s steel and used during World War-II, stood as a captivating highlight of the exhibition.

The exhibition also featured around 100 vintage bikes and scooters, including models dating back to 1923, evoking excitement among visitors.

Started in 2022 as part of its efforts to conserve and nurture India’s Sports, Arts and Culture, Tata Steel expects to make the Jamshedpur Rally not only the most sought after event in Jamshedpur during Founder`s Day celebrations, but in India too.

The growing popularity of the rally is already evidenced by the increasing number of participation every year.

The oldest vehicle participating this year is a 1926 edition Austin 7 car that is also known as Baby Austin among Classic and Vintage vehicle enthusiasts.

The first edition of the rally that was held in the year 2022 as part of the 183rd Founder`s Day celebration honouring the vision and memory of Tata Group’s founder Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata.
