Jamshedpur: Vikas quits IRS job, in preference for UPSC exam, gets AIR 110

Jamshedpur, May 30: Vikas Mahto scored AIR 110 in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Exam 2021 results that were announced on Monday.  He also appeared for UPSC exam in 2020 where he scored AIR 446 and joined Indian Revenue Service but was not satisfied and again appeared for UPSC.

Resident of Chhota Gamharia, Vikas appeared for class 10 from Kerala Public School Gamharia and later moved to DAV Bistupur from where he cleared class 12.

He completed his B.Tech in Mechanical from NIT Allahabad and was placed in L&T Company as Mechanical Engineer. He worked in the company from 2017 to 2019.

During his job Vikas tried to crack UPSC exam but could not succeed. As he was not satisfied with the Engineer’s job he quit.

Later, Vikas moved to Delhi and started preparing for UPSC and finally he got success.

Vikas is a native of Khunti village in Chandil block. His father Chakradhar Mahto was earlier posted as Circle Inspector in Gamharia and currently he is Circle Inspector in Mango. His mother Ambalika Mahato is a housewife while brother Pallav is posted as PO in SBI in Burla, Odisha.
