Jamshedpur: SCCI’s Chamber Premier League kicks off at Gopal Maidan

Industry XI, Tax and Finance XI register wins

Jamshedpur, May 30: The 3rd Chamber Premier League Cricket Tournament organised by Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Chanakya Choudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur on Monday, May 30.

A total of 6 teams are participating in the tournament namely President 11, Secretary 11, Tax & Finance 11, PRW 11, Trade & Commerce 11 and Industry-11. Four matches were played on opening day of the two-day tournament on May 30.

In the first match, Tax and Finance XI defeated President XI by 35 runs. Batting first Tax and Finance XI scored 167/1 in 10 overs courtesy brilliant century by Rahul Sharma (133 runs).   Chasing 168 to win, President XI managed to score 132/2. Gourav Agrawal was the pick of the batsman scoring 65 runs but could not take his team over the line.

In the second match of the day Industry XI beat Trade & Commerce XI by 7 wickets.

Batting first Trade & Commerce XI scored 85/9 in 10 overs. Industry XI chased down the total with 9 balls to spare to score 88/3.  

Tomorrow two matches will be played between President 11 vs PRW 11 and Secretary 11 vs Trade & Commerce 11. The final will be played between the teams who have won the maximum number of matches. The final match will start at 8.00 pm.

To encourage participation of kids, two teams Golden Bulls and Eagle Ice have been constituted.

Children will play their matches from 6.00 pm on Tuesday, at Gopal Maidan. Jharkhand State Cricket Association’s umpires and scorers are officiating in the matches.

Also present during the opening ceremony were Tata Steel Sports Head Ashish Kumar, Sports Department’s Satish Singh, Chamber Vice President (Trade & Commerce) Nitesh Dhoot, Vice President (Finance & Taxation) Dilip Golcha, Vice President (Industries) Mahesh Sonthalia, Secretary (Trade & Commerce) along with family members of SCCI office bearers and members.
