Sex Racket Busted in Jamshedpur Flat, Four Women Arrested; Two Operators Absconding

Jamshedpur: Police have busted a sex racket operating from a residential flat in the Ulidih area of Jamshedpur. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a late-evening raid at a flat in Green Field Colony and arrested four women, while two men believed to be the main operators managed to flee the spot.

According to police sources, a special team was formed under the leadership of the Patamda DSP, along with the Ulidih police station in-charge, Sharif Ali. The team initially carried out surveillance in plain clothes and later entered Flat No. B-5, F-1D posing as customers. During negotiations related to the illegal activity, the police sprang into action. Sensing trouble, the two men present at the flat escaped.

During the raid, four women were taken into custody. Preliminary investigation revealed that all of them are residents of Mango in Jamshedpur. Several objectionable items were also recovered from the flat and seized by the police.

Confirming the operation, DSP Bachandev Kujur said the police had received credible information that prostitution was being run from the flat for several days. After verifying the inputs, the raid was conducted on Thursday evening. He added that efforts are underway to trace the absconding accused and to identify others linked to the racket.

Police investigation has further revealed that the woman accused of running the racket had rented the flat about two months ago for ₹5,000 per month. Prior to this, she was allegedly involved in similar activities in the Mango area. During questioning, it emerged that a fixed share was paid to the women, while the remaining amount was retained by the operator.

Following the raid, the arrested women were brought to the Ulidih outpost for questioning and later shifted to the Sakchi Women’s Police Station due to the late hour. An FIR has been registered based on the statement of the Ulidih OP in-charge. Police are now probing the extent of the network, how long it has been active, and the identities of other people involved.
