Jamshedpur: Kerala Samajam Model School (KSMS) has launched a new community-driven initiative titled ‘Caring Companion’ aimed at supporting senior citizens while promoting intergenerational bonding. Under the programme, selected students will regularly visit identified elderly residents in the town to spend quality time with them, offer companionship, and provide assistance wherever needed.
In return, senior citizens will share their life stories, experiences, values, and knowledge of scriptures, creating a meaningful exchange of wisdom and warmth. The initiative is designed to help students develop empathy, compassion, respect, and strong social and emotional skills, while also addressing loneliness among the elderly.
The programme was launched under the leadership of Principal Nandini Shukla and Vice Principal Rina Banerjee, with guidance from teacher moderators Sudha Singh, Pushpa Prasad, and Anuja Singh. The initiative reflects KSMS’s commitment to community responsibility and holistic education.
