Jamshedpur, Jan 15: A tragic accident at an under-construction power plant in Dhalbhumgarh block claimed the lives of two workers on Thursday.
The mishap occurred when both workers fell from a height of nearly 20 feet while working inside a chimney where ceramic brick lining was underway.
They died on the spot due to the impact of the fall.
The deceased have been identified as Sadiq (22), son of Suleman, and Istakar (25), son of Aas Mohammad, both residents of Sharda Hedi village in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
Reacting to the incident, Madan Mohan Soren, President of Jharkhand Navnirman Abhiyan and District President of the Bharat Adivasi Party, along with labour leader Mukesh Karmakar, expressed deep grief and strongly criticized the company.
They said that according to workers at the site, there were no adequate safety arrangements in place, forcing labourers to work under risky conditions.
They demanded proper compensation for the families of the deceased and called for strict legal action against those responsible for negligence, so that such tragic incidents do not recur in future.
