Jamshedpur: Two drug addicts convicted for robbery and murder, sent to judicial custody

Jamshedpur, Dec 1: Two drug addicts with criminal history, Md Sarik and Sk Ashfaq, were chased by Mango residents and caught and handed over to the police.

The two criminals first stole a motorcycle from the jubilee Park gate at the Bistupur end and rode away. They snatched a cell phone from a person in Kadma police station area and then accosted a person near the Sakchi graveyard and tried to snatch his mobile phone. The person, Samir Tiwari, a relative DSP Kamal Kishore, protested and was stabbed by the criminal duo. Both, Md Sarik and Sk Ashfaq then stabbed Samir Tiwari and rode off on the stolen bike to an IMFL outlet near Mango roundabout. They had an altercation with a customer, Arvind Singh while they attempted to snatch cash from the person. Unable to extract money per force from Arvind Singh, one of the antisocial stabbed Arvind Kumar Sing who died on the spot.

While arresting the two accused from near the spot of stabbing in Mango, the Mango police recovered the stolen motorcycle, the mobile phone snatched from Kadma and the knife used in the stabbing from the arrested Md Sarik’s and Sk Ashfaq’s possession. Both the accused are residents of Kapali Saraikela-Kharsawan district and have been jailed on several earlier occasions for criminal activities.

Addressing a media conference on Wednesday, SSP Dr M Tamil Vanan, City SP Subhash Chandra Jat, DSP (CCR) Animesh Kumar Gupta, DSP Virendra Ram and other police officers gave the detailed briefings. Ashfaq has a criminal history of having been arrested on earlier occasions for murder, attempted murder and robbery. Two criminal cases against him were registered in Bistupur PS and one each in Sakchi and Mango police stations. The police of PSs concerned will take the duo on remand for questioning. Both, Ashfaq and Sarik were produced in Court on Wednesday by the Mango police before being remanded to judicial custody.
