Jamshedpur tuition teacher convicted for driving student to suicide

Jamshedpur, May 4: The court of Additional District Judge (V) Sanjay Kumar Upadhyaya convicted one Kuldeep Kumar Mahato in a case of abetment of suicide by a minor here on Wednesday. It will pronounce its verdict on the quantum of punishment on 7th May.

Kuldeep, a tuition teacher of the deceased minor, Puja Giri, was booked after his student committed suicide by hanging self to death in December 2018. Puja’s body was found hanging from the ceiling of her room. A student of class X in Galudih, Puja left behind a suicide note. Puja had reportedly held Kuldeep responsible for physically exploiting her after making false promise to marry her. When Puja asked Kuldeep to marry her, he refused. Shocked by the refusal, she ended her life. Kuldeep was a student of B Engineering College, Ghutia, sources said.
