Jamshedpur: Tributes paid to 1971 Indo-Pak war heroes

Jamshedpur, Dec 16: Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad on Friday celebrated the Vijay Diwas, marking 51 years of 1971 Indo-Pakistan war that led to the liberation of Bangladesh. A special event was organised by the Parishad at five city schools where Ex-Army personnel informed the students about valour of our war heroes.

Students were told that Indian armed forces on December 16, 1971, defeated the Pakistan Army in a bid to liberate Bangladesh, formerly part of East Pakistan and how around 93,000 Pakistan soldiers laid their arms down before the Indian forces. It is marked as the largest military surrender after the Second World War. The day is hailed as Vijay Diwas.

Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad paid tributes to the martyrs reading the victory message in Schools. Ex-Army personnel Ramesh Rai read out the message in NTTF Golmuri, Satyaprakash Singh in Hindustan Mitra Mandal Middle School and Santosh Singh in Burmamines Khalsa School.

“We felt the chill in our spine while knowing about hardships of the war. We respect and are inspired by our tough men, who are guarding country’s borders,” said one of the students.
