Jamshedpur: Xavier Public School students visit CSIR-NML under Jigyasa programme

Jamshedpur, Dec 16: A group of 40 Xavier Public School students accompanied by teachers Himangshu Bharadwaj, Suman Kumari, Simran Kumari, Kamalkant Sharma, Akansha Dubey and Rekha Sharma visited CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory under the Jigyasa programme. The CSIR-NML Jigyasa programme has been designed to establish a connection between school teachers and students to make learning science interesting,  encourage the participation of students in developing innovative scientific content on a virtual platform and inculcate interest towards science and simultaneously pursue careers in the areas of Science and Technology.

Senior Principal Scientist of KRIT Division, CSIR-NML, Dr PN Mishra while delivering the welcome address, introduced CSIR-NML as one of the world’s premier research organisations in India that was actively engaged in the fields of minerals, metals, metallurgy and materials science. “The contribution of NML to the mineral-based and related industries in India continues to be vitally essential,” Dr Mishra explained.  He also talked on the significance of research projects and activities taken up by the R&D divisions.

Senior Scientist of KRIT Division, Dr Animesh Jana gave a brief presentation on the CSIR-Jigyasa Portal. The KRIT Division team helped the students and teachers and urged them to subscribe to the YouTube channel of CSIR-NML Jigyasa programme. The day-long programme included visits to some research laboratories, workshops, the KRIT Division and the CSIR-NML museum and library.
