Jamshedpur, June 9: Jharkhand Jantantrik Mahasabha started a padayatra from Friday against the Khairbani Sewage Treatment Plant in Govindpur and the establishment of Heavy Motor Vehicle Training Center in Manpita.
The march started after garlanding and paying homage to the statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda at Birsanagar after traversing through Samutola and Manpita village.
Apart from the members of Jharkhand Jantantrik Mahasabha, the members of Samutola Gram Sabha and Manpita Gram Sabha are included in the padayatra. The members held a street corner meeting in Sakchi.
Addressing the gathering, Krishna Lohar and Kumar Chandra Mardi said that main objective of the protest is against both the proposed projects. In which the permission or consent of the Gram Sabha has not been taken.
People agitating against both the projects will reach Kalinganagar on foot for 12 days under the banner of Jharkhand Jantantrik Mahasabha. The agitators involved in the padyatra told that they are against the 286 kilometer development corridor being built by Tata Steel from Tata to Kalinganagar.
