Jamshedpur, March 24: A case of assault for extortion was registered in Parsudih here on Thursday. The complainant, Abhay Singh, accused two persons, Vishal Singh and Ravi Sah, of attacking and injuring him late yesterday night for not paying them extortion money of Rs 60,000. The accused persons took away cash worth Rs 20,000 and a gold chain from the possession of the complainant, police said.
Abhay Singh was taken to MGM Hospital by the police He said he is a convoy transporter and proprietor of AP Transport based in Telco. He alleged that Ravi and Vishal were demanding extortion money from him for the last one year. When Abhay refused to pay the money, the accused persons stopped him on his way home from Rahargora to Gadra yesterday and assaulted him, said the complainant.
Police officials said they were investigating the case to verify the allegations.
