Jamshedpur: Training program equips micro observers for election responsibilities

Jamshedpur: A comprehensive training program was organized at the XLRI auditorium to prepare micro observers for their crucial roles during the electoral process. The event saw the active participation of esteemed officials including the District Election Officer, Deputy Development Commissioner, and PD IDTA, underlining the significance of ensuring fair and transparent elections.

Micro observers were briefed on their pivotal responsibilities, emphasizing the need for vigilant monitoring of all voting activities. District Election Officer,  Ananya Mittal, highlighted the importance of the micro observer’s role, stressing the necessity of discharging duties sensitively and diligently. He urged micro observers to utilize the training to resolve any queries or doubts they may encounter during their assignments.

During the training, micro observers received detailed instructions on their tasks, including: Deployment procedures: Micro observers are required to report to the dispatch center a day before polling day and accompany the polling team to the assigned polling station. They are responsible for monitoring various aspects such as polling station preparations, mock polls, presence of polling agents, and availability of essential facilities.
Reporting procedures: Micro observers are required to submit their reports to designated observers, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Training was provided on correctly filling out prescribed forms and addressing any queries related to reporting procedures.
Crisis management: Deputy Development Commissioner,  Manish Kumar, emphasized the micro observer’s overall responsibility for their assigned polling station. In case of any disruptions or concerns, micro observers are instructed to promptly inform senior officials and the district control room.

Practical exercises: Micro observers underwent practical training on EVM operations, ballot unit procedures, voter slip distribution, ballot paper accounting, and mock polls using VVPAT machines. Additionally, they received guidance on sealing procedures and the resolution of any doubts they may have.

The training program equipped micro observers with the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill their duties effectively during the electoral process. By instilling a sense of responsibility and preparedness, the event underscored the importance of upholding democratic principles and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process. With the support of experienced trainers and guidance from senior officials, micro observers are poised to contribute significantly to the smooth conduct of elections in the district.
