Jamshedpur traders protest rent hike, demand immediate rollback

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur: Traders from various markets across the city staged a strong protest outside the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) office, opposing the recent hike in market rents.
Demonstrating under the banner of the Jamshedpur All Market Association, a large number of traders voiced their dissatisfaction with the administration’s decision.
The protesting traders alleged that the rent increase was implemented without prior notice or consultation, calling it arbitrary and unjust. They emphasized that the prevailing market slowdown has already put small shopkeepers under significant financial strain, and the sudden hike would only add to their burden.
Office-bearers of the association warned that the agitation would intensify if the decision is not withdrawn. They urged the administration to immediately roll back the rent hike and initiate dialogue with traders to arrive at an amicable solution.
