Jamshedpur to host district-level Kho Kho competition on Dec 1

Jamshedpur, November 27: A district-level Kho Kho competition will take place on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the Higher Secondary School campus in New Baradwari, Jamshedpur. The event, organized by the East Singhbhum District Kho Kho Association, will feature matches across sub-junior, junior, and senior categories for both boys and girls.

In preparation for the event, an important meeting was held today at the association’s residential office in New Baradwari under the chairmanship of District Secretary Victor Vijay Samad. The meeting focused on the organization of both district and state-level competitions.

Speaking about the event, the Secretary announced that formal invitations have been sent to Kho Kho teams from all schools and colleges in the district. Teams are required to register at the competition venue on December 1, 2024, by 7:00 am. This marks a significant step toward reviving planned sports activities in the district after a long hiatus.

During the competition, top-performing players will be ranked through a grading system to qualify for the inaugural Jharkhand Kho Kho Premier League. Additionally, a district team will be formed from the selected players to represent East Singhbhum in the upcoming state-level Kho Kho competition in December 2024.

Preparations for the district event are reportedly complete, with various committees established to ensure its success. Senior officials and players, including Treasurer Shyam Kumar Sharma, Assistant Secretary W. Rehman, and Technical Officer Dayal Singh Nehra, played a vital role in planning.

The event aims to identify and nurture talent in the district, potentially forming a strong representation for East Singhbhum in state-level tournaments.
