Seraikela, June 30: Various tribal organizations here paid rich tributes to martyrs Sido-Kanhu on the occasion of Hul Diwas on Thursday. A programme was organized at Sido Kanhu Park in Seraikela to mark the occasion. It was also attended by the state tribal welfare and transport minister Champai Soren.

After garlanding the statues of Sido-Kanhu, Soren spoke about the Hul revolution. He said this was the first ever revolution by the tribals against the British rule. He said Sido and Kanhu had dreamt of a tribal state where welfare of all tribals could be ensured. He said the Jharkhand state was formed with the same vision. He however added that the dreams of the great martyrs were still unfulfilled.

The minister said the JMM-led government in the state would fulfill the dreams of the people of Jharkhand. He said the government was committed to ensure welfare of Adivasis and Moolvasis. All the revolutionaries of the state had sacrificed their lives to protect water, forests and land, he said.

Soren said the state government was running many welfare schemes in the state and that the government would soon open Pundit Raghunath Murmu University in Jamshedpur.

Also present on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner of Seraikela-Kharsawan Arava Rajkamal said all citizens should take inspiration from the Freedom Struggle and work in national interest.
