Jamshedpur, May 31: Near Salgajhuri railway crossing, an advanced crematorium equipped with state-of-the-art facilities is underway. This gas-operated crematorium, financed at 2.32 crores from the 15th Finance Commission fund, is spearheaded by Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy. Initially slated for construction in Moharda, logistical constraints prompted its relocation to Salgajhuri.
Construction commenced following MLA Saryu Roy’s endorsement, with current efforts focused on building structures and establishing boundaries. Completion is anticipated by December 2024, promising enhanced convenience and community development. The project’s pace, however, warrants discussion with engineers for acceleration, noted MLA Saryu Roy.
This environmentally conscious endeavor includes a gas-operated furnace to minimize pollution, supplemented by wood-burning capabilities. The crematorium’s premises will feature ample shading from planted trees, with solar panels ensuring sustainable electricity generation. Solar power will operate all electrical equipment, contributing to energy conservation.
Additionally, plans include a designated crematorium for animals, addressing a longstanding issue of post-mortem disposal. Facilities for human mourners encompass a spacious waiting hall, VIP room, and observation area for witnessing last rites. Locker facilities for bone preservation, gender-specific toilets, and beautification of the nearby pond with a park further enhance the site’s amenities.
Upon completion, the Salgajhuri crematorium will serve as a beacon of modernity, offering dignified farewell ceremonies while prioritizing environmental sustainability and community welfare.
