Jamshedpur, March 23: A thief assaulted a woman when she raised an alarm on seeing him in her house at Parasnagar, Dimna Road, under Olidih police station area early Wednesday morning, sources said.
The victim, Sunita Singh, wife of Jitendra Sharma, was taken to MGM Hospital. She sustained injury in her head and hand.
According to Sunita, the thief hit her repeatedly on her head with the rod. After taking a few blows on her head, Sunita stopped the rod with her hands, she said.
Sunita was sleeping after seeing off her husband for his morning shift duty at 5 am. When she heard the sound of almirah being opened in the other room, she got up and went there. Confronting the unidentified thief, Sunita started shouting for help. In the meanwhile, the thief picked up a rod which he had reportedly brought with him and attacked Sunita.
Sunita’s husband and other relatives alleged that criminals had no fear of law as was evident from the incident.
Just two days ago, criminals had snatched a chain from a woman in Mango.
