Jamshedpur temperature climbs to record 43 C, no respite in near future

Jamshedpur, April 10: The city recorded the highest temperature for April on Sunday with the Celsius touching 43 degrees that was 4.8 degrees above normal. On Friday last, the city had experienced 40 C while on Saturday, the temperature climbed to 42 C. in view of the steady rise in Celsius reading over three days, an alert for heat wave has been sounded by the Met department. Three days earlier, however, there was a drop in temperature because of cloudy conditions accompanied by low intensity winds.

According to Met department’s forecast, there will be no respite from the heat in the coming days in Jharkhand. Instead, the forecast has stated that the Kolhan Region will experience rising temperature.

While Jamshedpur experienced 43 degrees Celsius on Sunday, the temperature in Chaibasa was recorded at 42 C. the temperature in Saraikela-Kharsawan was less than the other two Kolhan districts.

With dry conditions persisting for the next five days, the Met Department has warned of continued upward trend in the Celsius scale.
