Jamshedpur, July 22: Jamshedpur continued to struggle for normal life on Wednesday. Under the vigil of over 2,000 jawans belonging to various paramilitary forces, normal life in the densely-populated Mango locality was completely paralysed. Section 144 of CrPC has been strictly imposed by the district administration in the city.
Following molestation by the miscreants, there was panic among the residents in Daiguttu. Soon afterwards at around 11 pm, about 100 youth assembled near a temple at Daiguttu and set up a blockade there on the Mango-Azadnagar road demanding the administration to take action against the three youth.
But, at the same time a large number of youth gathered at Gandhi Maidan near a mosque. As the residents of Daiguttu squatted on the road, a section of people from Gandhi Maidan came closer to the blockade spot and pelted stones at the protestors. They pelted stones at the temple, causing the glass fittings to get damaged
East Singhbum deputy commissioner, Amitabh Kaushal said the prohibitory orders were being strictly implemented keeping in view the situation. ” The situation is much better in the city now. The prohibitory orders was relaxed between 1 pm and 5 pm at all the areas except Mango, Olidih, Azadnagar and MGM police station areas in Mango. The prohibitory order will be lifted only after assessment of the situation tomorrow, but it is going to be reimposed from 5 pm across the city after a relaxation of four hours from 1 pm,” said Kaushal.
He said the situation across the city is well under control, but he prompted to say that there was some problem in Munshi Mohalla in Mango where the police had to open tear-gas shell to disperse a crowd.
Meanwhile, senior superintendent of police, Anoop T Mathew said that the police are maintaining strict vigil and continuing to arrest the culprits involved in the violence at Mango and other parts of the situation, adding that the number of arrested person has crossed 125.
Notably, the trouble took place between the two communities in Mango on Monday night when three bike-borne youths shot in the air at Mango’s Gandhi Maidan where a fair, part of Id celebration, was on, allegedly tried to molest two girls near the Payal Cinema and then flashed firearms before residents of nearby Daiguttu locality.
