Jamshedpur, April 2: Jamshedpur recorded the season’s highest maximum temperature of 39.4°C, marking a sharp rise in heat levels across the region and signalling the onset of more intense summer conditions. The soaring mercury, coupled with clear skies and dry weather, has led to uncomfortable daytime conditions, with residents experiencing strong heat stress during peak afternoon hours.
According to prevailing meteorological conditions, an east–west trough is currently influencing the regional weather. This trough extends from an upper air cyclonic circulation over eastern Uttar Pradesh to Manipur, passing through Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bangladesh, Meghalaya and southeast Assam at around 0.9 km above mean sea level.
In addition, a secondary wind discontinuity stretches from eastern Uttar Pradesh to south Tamil Nadu, cutting across central and peninsular India. These systems are expected to play a key role in shaping weather changes over the coming days.
For April 2 and 3, the weather is likely to remain largely stable, with clear skies and dry conditions prevailing across most parts of the state. The absence of cloud cover will continue to support higher daytime temperatures, keeping heat levels elevated.
However, a notable shift in weather is expected from April 4. Skies are likely to turn partly cloudy, with the possibility of light to moderate rainfall or thunderstorms at isolated locations, especially over north-western and central regions. Thunderstorm activity may be accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph in some pockets.
The trend is expected to continue on April 5, with chances of similar rain or thunderstorm activity, particularly over northern parts of the state. By April 6, partly cloudy conditions will persist, with light rainfall likely in some areas, although north-western regions may remain relatively unaffected.
Despite the anticipated change, no major weather warnings have been issued for April 2, and any storm-related activity from April 4 onwards is expected to remain localized in nature.
The expected rainfall may bring temporary relief from the prevailing heat, offering a brief respite to residents grappling with rising temperatures.
