Jamshedpur Hits 41.8°C as Heatwave Grips Jharkhand; IMD Predicts Rain Relief in 72 Hours

Jamshedpur: Intense heat continued to grip East Singhbhum as Jamshedpur recorded a scorching maximum temperature of 41.8°C—a sharp 3.3 degrees above normal. The latest evening weather bulletin from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Ranchi confirmed the spike, noting that the city’s minimum temperature also settled above the seasonal average at 27.7°C.

Across Jharkhand, Daltonganj claimed the title of the hottest location at 43.4°C, with Jamshedpur following closely as the second hottest spot in the state.

The persistent heatwave leaves residents struggling with extreme discomfort, especially during peak afternoon hours.

“Stepping outside feels unbearable, particularly in the afternoon. The heat is exhausting, and everyone is desperately waiting for rain to bring some relief,” said Rakesh Sharma, a resident of Sakchi.

However, the weather department offers hope on the horizon. Meteorologists predict that thunderstorm activity, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, will likely lash several parts of Jharkhand over the next 72 hours, including eastern districts like East Singhbhum.

The IMD expects intermittent cloud cover and rainfall to pull down temperatures gradually, offering residents much-needed respite from the brutal heat spell. Meanwhile, authorities advise citizens to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and remain alert during potential thunderstorm activity.
