Earlier they were questioned by SP (Campaign) Purushottam Kumar, DSP Chandan Kumar Vats, Chandil SDPO Sanjay Kumar, Inspector Rajen Kumar and Seraikela police station in-charge Manohar Kumar. The six Naxalites were medically examined and presented in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate from where they were sent to jail. The six included Prashant Bose and his wife Sheela Marandi, Virendra Hansda, Raju Tudu, Krishna Bahda and Gurucharan Bodra.

Questioning has thus far revealed the involvement of some white collared persons with whom Prashant Bose had contacts and who funded the Naxalite outfit to enable them to procure arms and ammunition. Several of these white collared collaborators are contractors working in Naxalite infested areas and in order to purchase peace to pursue their work, they doled out money to the extremists outfits owing allegiance to Prashant Bose’s Maoists. With Bose’s arrest, these contractors and others who funded the extremists have reportedly gone underground. Meanwhile, the police are now preparing to take the arrested Naxalites on remand so that more important revelations can be dug out. The police are taking no chances as the extremists have been known to get hold of leaked information. As such, police are conducting the follow-up in a foolproof and tight manner.

Prashant Bose is a master of disguise and this trick of his had helped him elude the police dragnet on several occasions. He was the mastermind behind the murder of police personnel in Baliwan and Saranda in Chaibasa district of Kolhan. Prashant Bose used to command a guerrilla army of CPI Maoists in Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. The Naxalite leaders of these states had held meetings with Bose on several occasions. Prior to 2004, Prashant Bose was the head of MCII. His wife Sheela Marandi is a member of the Apex Central Committee of the Maoist organization. In addition, she is the head of the Nari Sangh. Prashant Bose used to send cadres from his area of influence across states for training.

Prashant Bose founded the organization in 2004. People’s War Group and MCCI (Maoist Communist Center of India) were merged. Following the merger, the CPI Maoist group attained stability. It was Prashant Bose’s effort that led to the merger of the two extremist wings. He is wanted in more than 70 cases.
