Jamshedpur, July 12: Baharagora police seized six heavy vehicles reportedly carrying sand without permission in a surprise raid on the National Highway 18 on Tuesday.
Circle Officer Rajeev Kumar, also present during the raid, said he had got a tip-off about the vehicles carrying sand illegally from Baharagora to Jamshedpur late Monday night. During checking, police seized the vehicles and sought documents from their drivers. The drivers failed to produce challans. All vehicles have been kept at Ghatsila police station, said Kumar.
Kumar said the case has been handed over to the district mining officer and district transport officer of Jamshedpur for further probe and action.
