Jamshedpur, July 7: In a touching initiative to preserve the emotional essence of Raksha Bandhan in the digital age, the Singhbhum Postal Division has launched a special campaign to ensure that no brother is left without a Rakhi, regardless of distance. Blending tradition with reliable postal services, the department aims to strengthen the timeless bond between siblings through secure and timely delivery of handmade rakhis.
Launching the campaign, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Singhbhum Division, Udaybhan Singh, said that Raksha Bandhan represents an unbreakable bond of love and trust.
He urged families to celebrate the festival with India Post and revive the warmth and joy associated with handwritten messages and traditional Rakhi deliveries.
To protect Rakhis from the monsoon, the department has introduced specially designed waterproof envelopes, which will be available at all two Head Post Offices, 71 Sub Post Offices and 654 Branch Post Offices across the division.
Special counters will also be set up at post offices to facilitate hassle-free booking during the festive rush. A dedicated team will ensure the safe and timely delivery of all rakhis through Speed Post.
As part of the initiative, the department will also organise a ‘Make and Send Rakhi’ competition in schools across Singhbhum. Students will be encouraged to create handmade rakhis for their brothers, which will be dispatched directly from their schools through Speed Post, eliminating the need to visit a post office.
To recognise creativity, the best 10 participants from each school will receive certificates of appreciation, while the top 10 entries from the entire Singhbhum Division will be honoured with special awards.
The complete package, including a waterproof envelope, Speed Post charges and service fee, has been priced at Rs 70, making the initiative affordable for all.
Through this unique campaign, the postal department hopes to reconnect children and families with the enduring tradition of sending love through the post, reminding people that the post office delivers not just letters and parcels, but emotions and cherished relationships.
