Hindu Peeth urges tight security, traffic plan for Jamshedpur Rath Yatra

Jamshedpur, July 7: With the annual Rath Yatra scheduled for August 16, Hindu Peeth has urged the East Singhbhum district administration to put in place comprehensive security, traffic and civic arrangements to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the festival.
A delegation of the organisation’s special committee, led by president Arun Singh, submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner and the Senior Superintendent of Police, highlighting the need for coordinated planning as multiple Rath Yatras will be taken out across the city.
The memorandum called for elaborate security deployment, effective traffic management, cleanliness along the procession routes, pruning of overhanging tree branches, removal of low-hanging cable wires obstructing the chariot routes, and the availability of emergency medical services, including ambulances.
Arun Singh stated that the number of Rath Yatra processions in Jamshedpur has increased significantly over the years, with around 9 to 10 processions now being organised from different parts of the city. He noted that the festival continues to witness a steady rise in the number of devotees, particularly women and children, who gather to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra and participate in pulling the sacred chariots.
The organisation appealed to the district administration to work in close coordination with the various Rath Yatra committees and address their logistical concerns well in advance. It also recommended deploying experienced chariot volunteers at locations expected to witness heavy footfall to ensure orderly movement of devotees and the safe conduct of the processions.
This year’s Rath Yatra processions will originate from several locations across the city, including Bistupur Ram Mandir, Sakchi Basant Talkies parking area, Kadma Uliyan, Utkal Association in Sakchi, Beldih Naga Mandir, New Baradwari Gandhi Ashram, Bara Hanuman Mandir in Mango, Jugsalai Rath Gali, Jagannath Mandir in Parsudih, Sakchi Hume Pipe Basti and Namda Basti Kali Bari in Golmuri, among other places. The organisation expressed confidence that with proper planning and coordination, the festival would be celebrated peacefully and with great enthusiasm
