Jamshedpur: Selection of beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana

Jamshedpur: A meeting of the District Level Committee was convened under the chairmanship of District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal to select beneficiaries for the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). The committee reviewed the progress made by the beneficiaries for the financial years 2022-23 and 2023-24 under this centrally sponsored scheme.

During the review, it was noted that despite extensive advertisements and publicity through various mediums, some beneficiaries expressed their inability to complete the scheme in writing. Consequently, instructions were given to include 05 new beneficiaries under the scheme. These new beneficiaries comprise two from Gudabanda and Jamshedpur, and one from Ghatshila.

The District Fisheries Officer informed the committee that, under the PMMSY, 2 hectares of land were covered in the financial year 2022-23. The target for the grow-out pond and inputs for freshwater, as well as a Mini Feed Mill with a production capacity of 2 tons per day, was partially achieved. Specifically, 0.50 hectares of grow-out pond and 0.50 hectares of freshwater input were completed. The remaining targets include 1.50 hectares of grow-out pond, 1.50 hectares of freshwater input, and the Mini Feed Mill.

Before submitting these remaining targets to the State Government or Central Government for approval, it was decided that an additional advertisement would be published to solicit applications from eligible beneficiaries once more. This step ensures transparency and inclusivity in the selection process.

Present at the meeting were District Fisheries Officer  Alka Panna, District Agriculture Officer Mr. Deepak Kumar, Fisheries Extension Officer, and other concerned officials. Their presence underscored the importance of inter-departmental collaboration in achieving the objectives of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana.
