Jamshedpur Sairat market: JNAC holds meeting over tax collection despite stay by DC

Jamshedpur, July 6: Notwithstanding a stay on the implementation of recent hike in Sairat market rent by Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav, Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) is preparing to expedite monthly rent dues from local traders.

Sources said the Special Officer of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) Krishna Kumar had convened a meeting to discuss strategy to collect monthly rent from shops of Sairat markets. An agency has been selected for the task of collecting rent from shop owners. Help would also be taken from the market revenue staff of Tata Steel, sources said, adding that the meeting was also attended by company representatives. City Manager of JNAC Anay Raj and Joy Gudiya were also present at the meeting.

The DC had issued an order staying collection of hike rent from traders till further orders. Now the traders are in a tizzy since they do not know as to exactly when will they have to pay the rent and at what rate.

Asked about the DC’s order, the JNAC Special Officer said no order regarding the rate of rent had been issued by the DC office.
