Jamshedpur couple arrested for allegedly killing daughter

Jamshedpur, July 6: Parsudih police arrested a couple, identified as Uttam Maity and Anjana Mahato, for allegedly killing their four-year old daughter and dumping her body near railway tracks.

Sources said the couple was arrested following the recovery of the body of a four year-old girl, identified as Dhitika, from bushes along the railway tracks near Galudih. Uttam and Anjana had reportedly tied the minor’s limbs and severely beaten her up. When the minor succumbed to injuries caused by alleged torture, her parents took her to Sadar Hospital, Khasmahal. But the girl died midway. Instead of going back home, the couple took the minor’s body to Galudih and threw it in the bushes along the railway tracks from train.

After spending a wee in Bodam, the couple reached Barigora late night on 4^th June. They were arrested on the basis of complaint lodged by the couple’s neighbours. During interrogation, police found out that the couple was behind the minor’s death, sources said.
