Jamshedpur, Aug 29: With Durga Puja preparations in full swing across the city, the Jamshedpur Durga Puja Central Committee held a crucial meeting on Friday with officials of Tata Steel UISL (formerly Jusco) to address civic issues that residents and Puja committees faced during the festival.

The Central Committee expressed deep concern over the poor condition of city roads and immersion ghats that had been badly damaged due to continuous rainfall. They urged immediate repair of broken roads to ensure that devotees faced no inconvenience during the festival. In response, Tata Steel UISL official R.K. Singh assured that road repair work would be undertaken on a war footing as soon as the rains subsided.

The meeting also emphasized cleanliness and essential facilities for smooth festival management. The committee requested Tata Steel UISL to provide dustbins at all Puja pandals to maintain proper sanitation. It also demanded immediate supply of slag to prevent muddy conditions around the pandals. The officials, in turn, appealed to Puja committees to submit their applications for electricity connections without delay.

The Central Committee further urged Puja organizers to promptly report specific problems faced at their respective pandals so that timely solutions could be arranged. Several committees raised issues, including the Aerodrome Durga Puja Committee, which requested repairs of a broken boundary wall, while Golmuri Food Plaza and Rajasthan Sarvjanik Durga Puja Committee highlighted wall repair needs in their areas. The Mango Shiv Shankar Durga Puja Committee pointed out a pipeline leakage near their Puja Sthal, and the Namda Basti Kali Mata Mandir and XN Type Durga Puja Committee in Sidgora requested covering of open drainage.

In addition, proposals were made for temporary street lights to ensure safety during the festivities and for providing temporary parking facilities on Tata Steel’s land near Puja venues.

The meeting was attended by Central Committee General Secretary Ashutosh Singh, Executive President Bhupender Singh, Vice President Neeraj Singh, along with Diwakar Singh, Ashok Samant, Ashok Sinha, Abhishek Kumar, Manish, and several others.
