Jamshedpur reports first Covid-19 case, woman with travel history to Bengaluru tests positive

Jamshedpur, May 30: The first case of COVID-19 in Kolhan has been reported from Jamshedpur, raising concerns as infections continue to rise across the country. A 44-year-old woman has tested positive in a rapid antigen test. However, confirmation through the RT-PCR test is still awaited.

The woman, originally from Saraikela, is currently residing in the Kadma area of Jamshedpur. She had recently returned from Bengaluru on May 25. Following her arrival, she began experiencing health issues and was admitted to a local hospital in Kadma for treatment.

Hospital authorities conducted a rapid test, which indicated she was infected with the coronavirus. As a precautionary measure, the woman has been placed in home isolation.

The Jamshedpur Health Department has stated that final confirmation will only be made after the RT-PCR test results are received. A sample has already been collected and sent to MGM Hospital for testing. The report is expected within 48 hours.

Health officials are closely monitoring the situation and have urged the public not to panic. Meanwhile, they continue to advise following COVID-appropriate behaviour, especially for those returning from other states or showing symptoms.
