Jamshedpur, April 9: City police today launched mobile numbers 7091091825 and 9508280796 for the citizens to take complaints against people spreading rumours on various social media platforms like WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Those posting and forwarding provocative and objectionable content on these platforms would be prosecuted, said senior police officials.
Police officials said legal action would also be taken against the group admins of the social media groups if they are found involved in creating or forwarding any such objectionable messages. Police would act promptly on such information and keep an eye on the activities of the accused persons, sources said, adding further that the names of people giving the tip-off would be kept secret.
