Jamshedpur: As the festival of colours, Holi, approaches, the authorities in the Steel City have intensified security measures to ensure a peaceful and safe celebration. A contingent of 2000 police personnel, comprising 800 in urban areas and 1200 in rural areas, has been deployed to maintain law and order during the festivities.
In light of past incidents where hooligans exploited the occasion to create disturbances, all police stations in East Singhbhum have been directed to take proactive measures to prevent such occurrences. Officers have been instructed to monitor individuals consuming alcohol in public and engaging in disruptive behaviour.
SDO Parul Singh emphasized the need for vigilance, stating, “Small-time criminals often take advantage of Holi celebrations to cause trouble. To counter this, police stations have been instructed to conduct arms checks and increase patrolling in the coming days.”
To ensure peace in sensitive areas like Jugsalai, Mango, Sakchi, and Dhatkidih, magistrates and police personnel, including constables, have been deployed in significant numbers.
Police officials have issued a stern warning against miscreants, stating that strict action will be taken against those engaging in mischief under the guise of revelry.
Additionally, the city police department has intensified efforts to combat eve-teasing during Holi, deploying plainclothes officers to monitor crowds, particularly youths prone to such behavior.
City SP Mukesh Layant emphasized the importance of coordination between police stations and the control room to maintain peace and harmony throughout the festivities.
