Jamshedpur: With only a few hours left for the New Year, Jamshedpur police have intensified security arrangements across the city to ensure a safe and smooth experience for residents and revellers. As families and youngsters prepare to celebrate, authorities have made special provisions for traffic management, parking, and crowd control at key hotspots known for year-end gatherings.
Popular destinations such as Jubilee Park and Dimna Lake are expected to witness large crowds, prompting a significant deployment of police personnel. Other locations under heightened surveillance include Sir Dorabji Tata Park near Keenan Stadium, Bhatia Park in Kadma, Hudco Lake, and Ghorabandha Theme Park in Telco. Under the supervision of SSP Piyush Pandey, the district police have implemented a comprehensive, multi-layered plan to maintain law and order, prevent untoward incidents, and ensure a trouble-free celebration.
As part of the security measures, a static deployment of 100 personnel each has been arranged at Jubilee Park and Dimna Lake from 9 am onwards on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Similar arrangements are in place at other major parks and picnic spots to manage crowd density and respond promptly to emergencies. In addition, police patrolling across the city will be intensified, with particular attention on high-footfall areas. Drone cameras will provide real-time surveillance of Jubilee Park and Dimna Lake, allowing authorities to monitor crowd behavior and intervene swiftly if required.
To prevent alcohol-related incidents, the police will conduct random drunk driving checks using breathalyzers at roads leading to major picnic spots and city streets. A senior official stated, “Our goal is to prevent alcohol-related nuisances and ensure everyone’s safety during celebrations.” Additionally, fifteen strategic checking posts will be operational from 6 PM to monitor traffic, enforce rules, and penalize violators.
The traffic police have also taken steps to ensure smooth vehicular movement near popular celebration sites. Adequate parking arrangements have been made at all major hotspots, with clear signage and the presence of traffic wardens guiding motorists to designated areas. These measures aim to reduce congestion, prevent chaos, and allow visitors to enjoy festivities without inconvenience.
Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement personnel and adhere to safety norms. Families and youngsters have been advised to celebrate responsibly, avoid reckless behavior, and prioritize safety while enjoying the festivities. Officials emphasized that responsible behavior combined with robust security measures would ensure a safe and joyous New Year for all residents.
