Jamshedpur: The Vice Chairman of the Jharkhand State Minority Commission, Jyoti Singh Matharu, held a detailed meeting with members of the Bengali community in Bhalubasa, Jamshedpur, focusing on issues faced by Bengali speakers in the city. During the visit, several concerns were addressed immediately through directives to the concerned officials, highlighting the administration’s commitment to minority welfare.
The meeting, attended by hundreds of community members, saw discussions on a range of issues, including the implementation of the new education policy for Bengali-speaking students and encroachment on land belonging to the Bengal Club in Jamshedpur. Community leaders requested active intervention to ensure their rights and benefits under existing policies.
Addressing the gathering, Matharu said he is holding meetings with every religious and linguistic minority community to understand their challenges. “I am striving to ensure that every minority community receives its rightful due,” he stated. He further assured the members that all issues raised by the Bengali community would be taken up with relevant departments and resolved within a specified timeframe.
Prominent attendees of the meeting included Anichitam Gupta, former member of the Minority Commission, Samanto Kumar, Alpana Bhattacharya, Sapan Roy, Debasish Naha, Ranjan Banerjee, Rana Banerjee, Amyo Ojha, Shu Kamal Nikoti, and Minmay Sur, who actively participated in the discussions and highlighted key concerns of the community.
