Jamshedpur: As people continue to violate the Covid-19 protocols, civic bodies Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee and Mango Notified Area Committee launched an awareness-cum enforcement drive for wearing masks in public places and ensuring social distancing across the city.
SSP M Tamil Vanan in a message to the public had said that the residents must wear masks whenever they leave their home. Mask is a must for everyone while stepping out of home. Mask is not a substitute for a helmet. Both are required while riding.
Meanwhile, Jamshedpur police have announced to register FIRs against persons found roaming on roads without wearing masks. The police will register FIRs under the Disaster Management Act and other sections of the IPC.
The administration has urged people to cooperate with the district administration in preventing the possible spread of coronavirus. He further said that wearing a face mask, washing hands frequently and maintaining social distance are the only ways to avoid contracting the virus and also spreading it to others till COVID-19 vaccine is available. But people by not following these norms are displaying their negligent attitude, the official regretted.
On Thursday several persons were found without masks. They were going to buy essential commodities but not wearing masks in the Sakchi area. They were warned.
The police team is also educating the people that the mask must be placed over the nose, mouth and chin and ensure there are no gaps on either side of the mask, adjust to fit.
“ We want people to understand that they must avoid touching the mask, while using it. They should also change the mask after six hours or as soon as they become wet and never reuse disposable masks and dispose of the used masks into closed bins after disinfecting them. After removal of the mask, they must clean hands with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand rub disinfectant,” he noted
