Jamshedpur, July 15: In yet another case of drowning, a 13-year-old boy was drowned at Baridih ghat in Subarnarekha river along the Sidhgora police station area of the city on Thursday afternoon. The victim, Ankit Sharma drowned while taking bath in the swollen river alongside three of his friends at about 1 pm today. The victim was a resident of Meera Road in Baridih Bustee, just near the river ghat.
Soon after the mishap his friend succeeded in catching him and rushed him to MGM Medical College Hospital in an auto-rickshaw, but on reaching the hospital the doctors on emergency duty declared him as dead.
A doctor who attended the boy said that had the victim been given necessary therapy like chest compressions followed by breath-giving repeatedly on the spot, then perhaps he would be able to survive.
OC, Sidhgora police station , Ravi Ranjan Prasad Singh confirmed about the drowning death. ” We are investigating the incident. The victim’s father Umesh Sharma has in a statement said that his son had gone to take bath in the river along with his friends and drowned accidentally. We have seized the body and have shifted it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for postmortem, ” said Singh.
