Jamshedpur Police step up vigil to ensure safe Holi celebration

Jamshedpur: With the vibrant festival of Holi just around the corner, the Jamshedpur Police has initiated proactive measures to ensure the safety and security of citizens during the festivities. In light of recent incidents of misinformation and unrest, the police department has heightened vigilance in key areas while taking decisive steps to apprehend rumour mongers.

The East Singhbhum Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishore Kaushal has affirmed the commitment of law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and harmony during Holi celebrations. The SSP emphasized the crucial role of the Cyber Cell in monitoring social media platforms for any provocative messages or misinformation. Both the Cyber Cell and local police stations will be closely monitoring platforms such as WhatsApp, Twitter, and others to prevent the spread of false rumours.

“We are closely monitoring social media platforms for any provocative messages circulating. We have requested peace committee members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious content immediately to the administration,” stated the SSP. Additionally, peace committee members have been urged to educate youths about the dangers of believing unverified information and to encourage them to confirm information with local authorities before reacting.

In preparation for the festivities, more than 3000 police personnel will be deployed across the city to ensure the safety of residents and maintain law and order. Furthermore, the Traffic Police and Excise Department officials will collaborate on conducting drives against rash driving and drunken driving using breathalyzers to enforce road safety regulations.
