Baharagora: A police raid led by Baharagora PS OC Vikas Kumar Sharma resulted in the seizure of 123 liters of illegal foreign liquor from Uinala village under Rajlabandh Panchayat of Baharagora block on Monday.
Acting on a tipoff, the Baharagora police team conducted a raid at the residence of Chiranjit Pal alias Chhotka Pal, on Monday afternoon. A total of 123 bottles of Kingfisher Beer and other different brands of illegal liquor brought in from West Bengal, were confiscated.
Efforts are underway to file an FIR against Chiranjit Pal, who gave police the slip during the raid. Ghatshila SDPO Ajit Kumar Kujur emphasized that amidst the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the police administration was intensifying its investigation against illegal activities, including illicit liquor trade.
Chiranjit Pal has been allegedly involved in smuggling liquor from West Bengal and distributing it within the region over a period of time. This was the first instance of raid on his illicit liquor trade. Ghatshila Sub-Divisional Officer Sachchidanand Mahato, Baharagora Block Development Officer Keshav Bharti, and police personnel were present during the raid.
